The Big Meet 2010
The Big Meet is Choice Support's conference for the people it supports. This year's conference, the second one, took place on 15 April at the Gilbert Murray Hall at The University of Leicester. The theme was healthy living, and the aim was to raise awareness about healthy eating and physical activity among the people who use Choice Support's services.
Juli Carson, a service manager in Southwark, said: "This event was for the people we support, and all about them. It made me feel that we are doing something right and our ethos of the people we support at the centre was being demonstrated for all to see. The venue was very central for everybody, which made it easier for people travelling from most directions. Choice Support also provided goodie bags and t-shirts for the people we support and I felt this was a nice touch to help remind everyone of the day. A great success and a lot of fun! I am so glad that I attended and was able to help and participate." A lot of people from across Choice Support were involved in organising the day, and we think their hard work paid off. People were asked to fill in feedback forms at the end of the day. Here are some of the things they said:

About 300 people came along, almost double the number who came to the first conference in 2008. Some people came on their own, and others with the support of staff. A well as a chance to meet new people and learn things, the day was full of fun activities, including bingo, a talent show, singing with Lizzie Emeh, and professional coaching in basketball and football. There was also a lot of good food and some interesting talks.
